Films like The Terminator, iRobot, and 2001: A Space Odyssey show robots at odds with the human race. However, artificial intelligence (AI) in these movies is rarely depicted accurately. Instead of living in a world where robots conquer humanity, we now use AI, augmented and virtual reality (AR and VR) to train military soldiers, robotically assist surgeons, and create a more realistic gaming experience. Voice over is essential for companies who want to provide a complete and immersive experience for their customers, and technology voices need to be intelligent, trustworthy and clear.

In our current voiceover landscape, people tend to question if artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality technologies are stealing voiceover jobs. My immediate answer is a resounding “no,” as I believe these technologies are creating even more jobs for voiceover professionals.

I talk to Alexa all day - she helps me take incoming calls, keep track of my schedule, find and stream content, and so much more! Text-to-speech (TTS) technology is improving daily, and the voices behind Amazon’s Alexa, Google Home, and Apple’s Siri are all examples of how important digitized personalities are becoming in today’s world.
Nothing competes with the cadence of a human voice (at least, not yet!), and brands using such technology are still seeking voice actors to perform the roles of our current AI. I’ll work with you on techniques that will position your voice for success in a burgeoning technical voiceover space. Plus? We’ll definitely talk tech. All the tech. Because I’m obsessed ;)
