Every so often, you’ll see audition specs that list a time—“15 seconds,” “30 seconds,” or even“60 seconds.” And right beneath it? A chunk of copy that seems way too long to fit. 

Your first instinct might be to match the timing exactly. But here’s the truth: those times don’t always mean you have to stick to them. Chasing the clock usually backfires. You rush, squeeze in too many words, and end up losing the performance that could’ve booked you the job.
