Are voiceover vacations ever really vacations?
Let’s be honest—when you’re a voice actor, vacations are rarely completely work-free. But with the right setup, you can still enjoy your time away while staying ready for last-minute gigs.
During my recent vacation in Italy, I managed to record five telephony jobs, two automotive commercials, and a corporate narration spot—all from a mobile studio setup I put together just before my trip. My recording booth? An ironing board on top of a desk, covered with an extra comforter to create a makeshift “tent.” Add in plenty of pillows surrounding the mic and computer for extra sound absorption, and I was good to go!

With a little creativity and the right portable gear, you can balance work and travel without compromising on audio quality. So, if you’ve ever hesitated to take a trip because of voice over commitments—know that with a solid travel recording setup, you can do both!
