False Calls and Real Dreams: Learn to Trust the Right Voice

Abstract sculpture of a face emerges from an open book on a coral background. Text: The Myth Of You: Trusting the Process.

What If the Dream You’re Chasing Isn’t the One That’s Meant for You?

We talk a lot about refusing the call. But what if the real struggle isn’t about ignoring your calling—it’s about chasing the wrong one? Sometimes we pursue dreams that were never truly ours. We follow ideas shaped by fear, money, or the pressure to succeed. We can convince ourselves we’ve found our passion—when what we’ve really done is build a story based on someone else’s expectations. The challenge is learning to recognize the difference between a false call and the one that truly lights you up.

In this episode: Sean and Anne discuss the importance of recognizing and answering the call to pursue one's passions and dreams. They share personal stories and insights about refusing the call, false calls, and the role of fear, insecurity, and money in decision-making. They emphasize the need to have an open mind, trust the process, and allow the universe to work its magic, highlighting the importance of self-reflection, self-awareness, and taking action to create the life you desire.

Not Every Opportunity Is the Right One

False calls often show up as ideas that seem smart, logical, or profitable. Maybe they come from the marketplace. Maybe they’re born out of pressure to succeed quickly. Maybe they’re shaped by a story you were handed—be a doctor, be practical, have a fallback. But just because something looks like a call doesn’t mean it is. Sometimes we follow the wrong thing out of habit. Sometimes we chase a dream because it’s easier than sitting in the unknown.

If you’re not sure what’s real, pay attention to what you do when no one’s watching. The real call usually shows up in the in-between moments—what you gravitate toward when the pressure is off, when the world isn’t demanding anything from you. It’s what you do when you lose track of time. It’s the thing you’re drawn to even when there’s no paycheck attached. That’s not coincidence. That’s your compass.

False Calls Teach Us Where We Don’t Belong

There’s value in the wrong turn. Following a false call helps define the shape of the real one. It teaches you about limits, boundaries, and what doesn’t light you up. It builds resilience, sharpens your instincts, and pushes you to ask better questions. It also teaches humility—because letting go of a false dream requires the courage to admit it’s not working, and the wisdom to try something else.

Not everything that feels urgent is real. The real call often waits patiently—until you’re ready to stop chasing and start listening.

Allowing the Universe to Do Its Part

Purpose needs space. It rarely shows up in a crowded mind full of noise, fear, and resistance. Saying yes to the real call often requires stillness, trust, and letting go of rigid expectations. You can’t force alignment. But you can create room for it. That doesn’t mean sitting idle—it means showing up, doing your part, and allowing the rest to unfold. There’s a difference between effort and over-control. The right path often feels like ease—not because it’s simple, but because it’s aligned.

Trust the Real Dreams - the Ones That Don't Go Away

The right call doesn’t force itself into your life. It whispers. It lingers. It waits until you’re honest enough to hear it. You’ll know it by how it feels—not just in your head, but in your gut. You’ll know it by how time bends when you’re in it. And you’ll know it by the way it keeps showing up, again and again, no matter how many times you try to push it away. Trust that. Say yes to that. And let the rest fall away.
