Celebrating 16 Years of VO Peeps – So Excited for What’s Next!

From Casual Meetup to Global Community

It’s hard to believe that it's been so long since I started VO Peeps. Back then, I'd just moved to California from New Jersey and was making the shift from a long-term corporate job & part-time voice work to pursuing a full-time voiceover career. When I arrived, I was eager to connect with other talent, learn from them, and build a supportive community. But there was something missing; while there were plenty of workshops focused on voice over performance, there weren’t many classes available to help new and upcoming talent actually build successful careers.

So I focused my 20 years of educational experience and took action, creating a space where voice talent could connect and grow with each other—and learn to market themselves toward building sustainable careers within the voiceover industry.

In 2009, our very first VO Peeps event started as a small potluck at my house with just a handful of industry friends. What began as a casual meetup quickly turned into a space for open and honest conversations about our careers, where we could all learn from each other and share the business side of voice over. The more we connected, the more I realized this was something truly special, and it was growing into something much bigger than a local gathering. It became clear to me that the need for a supportive, educational, and global community was real—and VO Peeps was born from that vision...

Transforming Meetups into a Global Voiceover Community

As word spread, more and more people wanted to join. I began inviting industry professionals—casting directors, agents, producers, and top voice actors—to speak at our meetups. These weren’t just casual get-togethers anymore; they became valuable growth experiences. My husband, Chef Jerry, added his special touch with themed dinners, making every event feel like a true celebration of the voiceover industry and the community we were building.

As distance learning began offering opportunities for growth and widespread connection, I expanded the VO Peeps community to create a global network that included voice talent from all over the world and began streaming our events. What started with just a laptop and a Blue Snowball microphone quickly evolved into a full-scale production that included professional audio, multi-camera shoots, and even hair and makeup!

The shift to digital events allowed us to create a truly global community, and it was thrilling to see our VO Peeps family grow from just a handful of people to an international movement. I've been privileged to meet and learn from so many people throughout the years, thanks to this amazing group, whose gracious spirit and incredible talent constantly blow me away!

I've learned so much from each & every one of you, and hope we can continue to lift each other up as we move into this next chapter!

Giving Back: The VO Peeps Career Education Scholarship Fund

I’m really proud of the work done through our VO Peeps Career Education Scholarship Fund. Over the years, we've helped so many talented voice actors who were determined to succeed but lacked the financial resources to invest in the training they needed. and our scholarship fund has helped kickstart their careers.

What began with a few donated services quickly turned into a full-fledged scholarship program. Over the years, our program has awarded over $60,000 in scholarships, helping voice actors at various stages of their careers—including international talent through our partnership with the VO Atlanta Scholarship Fund. This program has always been at the heart of VO Peeps, and it will continue to be an essential part of the mission to give back and support aspiring voice actors, now as the VO BOSS Career Education Scholarship Fund.
