I started off by printing out all of the printables for the kit. These are all pdf filles that you print directly to your printer with no alteration. Since this album was introduced last year, I realized that I needed to use the heart and transparency template from the template kit instead of the printable due to the fact that the year was 2009! I mounted the cover on corrugated cardboard to give it some dimension but not a lot of weight. The great thing about the printables and the templates is that there are markings for punching your holes to align them properly in the album, that's one less thing to worry about - especially if you aren't used to creating multiple shaped albums. I then mounted the printed out pages on chipboard. Of course, no scrapbooking task is ever complete without inking the edges with my favorite Tim Holtz Ditress inks!
I then used the Valentine Love Notes Brush Kit to create a page of stickers for my album. I printed this on an Avery Clear Full Sheet Label (8665) so I could create embellishments for my pages. I pulled out my Spellbinder's Wizard and Netsabilities and punched out various sizes of circles and scalloped circles on chipboard.
I then covered them with the oh so fabulous Haute Pink Background Kit papers, and added the clear stickers on top along with some yummy BLING! (Heidi Swapp of course!). Again, all edges were distressed with Tim Holtz distress inks.
Then began the task of selecting the photos for the album. Now, this is almost always the most time consuming part for me! Since it was Valentine's Day, I wanted to highlight my favorite Valentine Jerry and I together through the years, so I only selected "couple" photos. Once I had narrowed down my choices, I converted them all to black and white in PSE, and printed them out on my most favorite Epson R1800 printer. (which of course has now been replaced with a newer model - the 1900.) I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Epson R1800 for printing out photos - and the prints come out especially beautiful when you use the Epson Premium Glossy photo paper. Some of the photos were mounted on chipboard so that I could add layers and dimension to the pages.
I then mounted the photos on each page, adding lots of bling, as well as some handwritten sentiments and doodles, which added to the whimsical theme of the album. I even created a super fun paper flower that I created by rolling one of my scraps of paper and gluing it down to a scalloped circle. I then used a little Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist to give it some shine. I have had an obsession lately with creating paper flowers. Well, they just make me happy, and I have found a lot of tutorials out there on how to create all kinds of cute flowers. Check out Rhonna's Rolled Fabric Flowers, Coffee Filter Flowers, DIY Lollies, and a cute one here on rolled paper flowers. Trust me, it's an addiction!!!
I think I have made about 100 flowers so far, from paper, fabric, ribbon, etc.!!!
Added some ribbon to the rings, and some cute metal embellishments to the front cover that I got from Cherry Street Design on ebay - LOVE the great selection of metal embellies from her!
