Family TreeI was shopping in my local scrapbook store one day and saw this absolutley adorable mini album from Chatterbox.  I just couldn't resist - It had owls and trees and birds!  (Oh my!) :) At the time, I knew it would have to be a "Family" album of sorts.  This was the first time I have worked with such an odd shaped album, and it presented its own set of challenges.  Once I accepted that fact that things would stick out beyond the page borders, I was all set to go!

I decided that not only would things "stick out" of my album, I also wanted to add some dimension and height to them as well.  So I mounted all of my photos on chipboard at various heights.  I had to make sure that the chipboard was covered on both sides so that it would look good on the opposing page, so I found some great coodinating Bohemian paper from My Mind's Eye that went beautifully with the green and blue color scheme of the album.  Unfortunately, this particular collection has been discontinued.  I originally bought the whole Bohemia kit on QVC.com!  Love QVC for scrapbooking supplies!

Also, true to my style as of late, I added lots of BLING with Heidi Swapp jewels and the new self adhesive Rhinestones from Kaiser Craft.  I am so happy to have found these little "gems" :) - You get 100 rhinestones for such a great price!  I don't think I will ever buy self adhesive rhinestones from anywhere else!

The embellishments that came with the album were just so cute that I had to buy practically all of the other coordinating embellishments as well.  This included the Words chipboard layers, Journaling Spots, Lucious Frames, Icons and Brads Chipboard layers, and Rub-Ons.  Two Peas in a Bucket has a nice selection available here.

Of course, I also used none other than my fav guy scrapbboker Tim Holz's Distress inks - specifically his walnut ink, all over the album.

Last but not least, I edited all photos in Photoshop Elements, and had a great time playing with some of my favorite actions.  Jessica Sprague has an action called "Dreamify" that I downloaded some time ago which I LOVE.  I used it on two of my photos in the album.  I can't seem to find it anywhere now, but she provides a Photoshop Friday tutorial on how to create a dream-i-fied photo here

I also love the Photoshop actions from Photoblast at EZActions.com.  I have the Basic Pro B&W conversions and the Color Wash Pro.  They are so worth the price and I use them constantly!
